Russ Scaffede
Russ Scaffede, an expert on lean manufacturing implementation, is a strong hands-on manufacturing leader who has led successful lean transformations. A former Toyota manufacturing executive and the chief operating architect of the lean transformations at Donnelly Corporation and Tiara Yachts, he is also a past chairman of the Shingo Prize Board of Governors. He is the co-author of "The Leadership Roadmap".
Russ joined Toyota as General Manager of Powertrain Operations at Georgetown, Kentucky, after almost twenty years with General Motors. He spent the next several years learning from Toyota's most experienced operational leaders and visiting many high performing lean manufacturing sites, as he studied the much admired Toyota Production System (TPS) and developed his understanding of the critical missing process in most lean manufacturing implementations, which is the integration of a truly participative people-based belief system utilizing the tools for continuous improvement.
